Formula 1: Ferrari to Unveil its 2012 Car on February 7

The 2011 Formula 1  season is certainly one Ferrari would like to forget. Despite former champion Fernando Alonso giving it his best, in the end the Scuderia had only one win to show and a poor third place in the constructors’ championship.

Ferrari’s head of communication, Luca Colajanni, told Italian publication Autosprint that the 2012 car, upon which the Scuderia has focused its resources since August, will be revealed at the first official test of the new season on February 7 at Jerez racetrack in Spain.

Colajanni added that it will be “very different” from the F150o Italia – which doesn’t really come as a surprise, given that this year’s car was clearly inferior to the Red Bull and the McLaren.
The new Ferrari F1 car will be presented in early February, in time to take part in the first test session ahead of the season", he said. "At the moment it's not important to say whether the new project is going to be extreme. For sure, it will be a clean break with the past, a very different program, because it aims to win and marks a change of mentality by the entire team.

Fernando Alonso storms to Silverstone win

Fernando Alonso took Ferrari's first win of 2011 with a stunning drive at a thrilling British Grand Prix. The Spaniard took the lead following a pit-stop problem for Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel but the Ferrari had genuine race-winning pace.Vettel was left to fend off team-mate Mark Webber, who was told to hold position by team boss Christian Horner.

Lewis Hamilton finished fourth, holding off Ferrari's Felipe Massa in an exciting last-lap duel."This isn't a gift to Ferrari," said BBC F1 co-commentator David Coulthard. "They've got to the lead of this race by merit."Jenson Button retired following a problem at his final pit stop, when he set off to rejoin the race without a wheel nut on his right front wheel and he had to stop in the pit exit.Vettel's race also turned on a pit error. The German took the lead at the start from Webber, who began from pole, as the drivers had to cope with tricky conditions on a track that was wet over half its length but dry over the other.

Vettel admitted that Ferrari had deserved their victory: "I think you have to accept fair and square Ferrari beat us today."There has been a bit of a trend over the last couple of races, they have been very strong on race days, so it shows us we need to keep pushing and improving the car."He added: "It would have been a tight race because Ferrari had very good pace. It was not just us being unlucky and finishing second because of a mistake. Fernando was very competitive."A delighted Alonso hailed his Ferrari colleagues as he spoke of his victory.

Ferrari confirms departure from FOTA

With Red Bull also rumoured to be leaving and HRT having departed in January, it potentially leaves the teams’ organisation representing just nine of the 12 outfits in F1.Ferrari said FOTA’s drive has run its course. It claimed it would continue to try to make the Resource Restriction Agreement more effective and efficient” but added: “We must return to a situation where Formula 1 is really a test bed for advanced technological research, the results of which can be transferred to Granturismo cars.

Ferrari issued the following statement: Ferrari has informed FOTA President Martin Whitmarsh that it is leaving the organisation made up of the teams competing in the Formula 1 World Championship.

It was a difficult decision and a great deal of thought went into it. It was taken reluctantly after analysing the current situation and the stalemate when it came to debate on some issues that were at the core of why the association was formed, indeed with Ferrari and Luca di Montezemolo as the main instigator and promoter of ideas. It’s not by chance that the President of the Maranello company held that same position and job title within FOTA up to the end of 2009.

Some of the major achievements of the association during these years, also worked out in conjunction with the FIA, centred around cost reduction, which was of significant benefit to everyone, the big teams and the small ones.

Ferrari was on the front line in this area, even before the birth of FOTA and it intends to continue down this route to ensure the sustainability of the sport in the long term. Now however, it is necessary to find some new impetus to move it along because FOTA’s drive has run its course, despite the excellent work of current President, Martin Whitmarsh in trying to reach agreement between the various positions for the common good.

Barrichello not worrying about his future

Rubens Barrichello insists he does not go into this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix worried about his Formula 1 future, as he feels satisfied with and grateful for his grand prix career no matter what happens in 2012.

The veteran seems set to lose his Williams seat next year, and may face a battle to find a new drive - meaning his 326th F1 appearance may be his last in a racing capacity. But rather than worrying about what 2012 may hold, Barrichello said he was feeling thankful for the 19 years he had already enjoyed in F1 - pointing out that other drivers facing uncertain futures, such as Bruno Senna, had only managed a fraction of that time at the top level so far.I think it would be sad to be worried about the future.I had 19 lovely seasons. As much as I wish Bruno all the success in the future, he is in his second year and having to work hard to stay here, and you imagine.

I have been doing this for such a long time and been wanted here for such a long time, so I feel good.Barrichello produced one of his best drives of the year in Abu Dhabi a fortnight ago to come through from the back of the grid to 12th, a performance the Brazilian said he enjoyed even if he doubted it would make much difference to his career prospects.

Morroco/Marakesh- The land of god

Marrakesh is the ancient name for morocco meaning the land of god. This sensational destination in North Africa has a lot to offer to tourists roaming round the globe. This destination has a lot to offer , being the home for Casablanca is just one more addition to its travel fame, but morocco has a lot more to offer than just Casablanca.

Morroco’s cuisine is something really unique and one that should be enjoyed by all, even the simple serving of green tea with mint would tease our taste buds a lot. Figuig oasis in eastern Morocco and Tislit Lake, Imilchil in the Atlas Mountains, or architectural marvels, like in Volubilis, featuring the best preserved Roman ruins in this part of northern Africa, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or the numerous mosques around the country, which feature beautiful and intricate architecture.

The art and craft of Morocco is what makes it look so beautiful, be it the colorful carpets or the rugged look in the rugs or the beautiful blankets. The marketplace is just a visual delight which would remind us of the Arabic tales we have read over the years.

There are some amazing vacation rentals in Morroco like the villa des trois golfs, Dar Habibam, Riad Hadika Mariam, Riad Dar Rabiam, Villa 18 Apple Gardens, Riad Najmati and more such luxurious holiday villas/cottages to enjoy for your vacations.

Button victory laids down marker for 2012

It was a glorious Sunday in Suzuka. The sun shining down, the choir singing the national anthem with such beauty on the grid and a race which was close throughout and went down to the wire. First point of contention was the start. I think Vettel pushed his luck with Button but the decision not to penalise him was the correct one. Button ends up in the pit exit and then the track tightens so i think technically the road closed up on him when it got to the point he was on the grass. Don't blame him for feeling aggrieved. The stewards reasoning was strange however as they made the point that Hamilton had taken a similar line to Vettel from the start. Don't see how that really plays an influence in what happens. Good that the FIA are giving reasons at least! Button eventually retook the lead, a pit time 8 tenths quicker than Vettel allowing the McLaren to get the 'overcut'.

Then we had a safety car after debris at Turn 7 (Webber/Schumacher collision) and Turn 16 (Hamilton/Massa) I thought this was a bit of an overreaction at the time because the pieces were small but i understand safety is paramount and the biggest gap on track at the time was 15 seconds between D'Ambrosio and Trulli so it would have been tight for a marshall to get out there. Just feels strange seeing a safety car for pieces of debris and only yellow flags when a burning Renault was exploding at the Budapest pit exit. Hamilton seem to not realise Massa was there in their collision. The stewards explanation on this was also odd taking into consideration that Massa was on trying to overtake on the left into a right hander. Hamilton may have been taking the normal line but you can't just do that when another car is already there! I'm always amazed how aware the drivers are of what's around and behind them being so low in the cars with small mirrors but Hamilton's recent incidents do make you wonder about his awareness around other cars, he has made some clumsy and unneeded moves. He is still a very quick driver and on his day the best and this slump of form will pass by and i feel he will bounce back.

Latest nail in Austin's Formula One coffin: F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone cancels contract

Everything was signed and sealed, but we kept putting things off like the dates, various letters of credit and things that should have been sent, but nothing ever happened. Then these other people came on the scene, saying that they wanted to do things, but that they had problems with Tavo.

They said they had the circuit, and that they wanted an agreement with me. I told them they had to sort out the contract with Tavo, which they said they would. But that has gone away now because we've cancelled Tavo's contract as he was in breach.

We've waited six months for him to remedy the breach. He knows full well why we've cancelled. He's happy.Wait a second… Tavo Hellmund is happy? Now that’s a new take on the situation, and it suggests there is more at play than meets the eye.Circuit of the Americas appears to have way underestimated the power of Hellmund, a close, life-long friend of Ecclestone. Without Hellmund, COTA lost the direct contact and Ecclestone’s trust. Now they need to show him the money. The one thing that is clear is that the U.S. Grand Prix, set to run exactly one year from Friday, may not be dead, but Bernie Ecclestone is reading it last rites.

Vacation Rentals- The cheaper option?

There has been this kind of talk going for quite some time now. While we plan for our holidays the kids don’t worry much since they don’t have enough time for their plans to enjoy. The worries are left to the poor heads of the family on how to plan their vacations on shoestring budget.
This world is an amazing place with beautiful locations. There will be a lot of dream trips planned by all of us and some common dream destinations will be France, Italy, Florida, Hawaii, California etc. Once we decide to go on such vacations, it’s necessary that we book a luxurious holiday rental to enjoy our trip even more.
Today the prices are sky rocketing all round the world; we can see the so called local shops raising their rates almost near to the big shots.  Today it’s a better option to pay more and enjoy more as quality is what all of us would like. So this is the similar case for holiday villas/cottages. They provide you with a great amount of amenities be it swimming pool, spa, community golf courses, kitchen etc. So instead of restricting your budget by booking cheap quality hotels and ruining the vacation this is a far better option.
Vacation rentals are actually cheap as with your own kitchen you get to cook your own food and with swimming pool & other recreations you get to save a lot. Also hotel rooms will restrict on average 3-4 persons per room but here you can find vacation villas having ability to accommodate 12-15 people so in the end it’s cheap and as a bonus you are set to stay together with your family.Enjoy world tours booking vacation rentals, holiday cottages and cabin rentals at thebestvillas

Rosberg signs new deal with Mercedes F1 team

In a statement issued ahead of Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Mercedes added that seven-times champion Michael Schumacher, the most successful driver in the sport, would again be Rosberg's team mate next year. The team said Rosberg, who joined from Williams in 2010, had agreed "a multi-year contract extension to include the 2013 season and beyond." Rosberg, the 26-year-old son of Finland's former champion Keke, has yet to win a race since his debut in 2006 but is highly regarded. He has had three podium finishes and scored 217 points since he joined Mercedes.

This season he has scored five more points than Schumacher and is seventh overall with two races remaining. "To win in a Silver Arrow (Mercedes) will be one of the highlights of my life so far," he said. "I have every confidence that the team will provide me with a winning car and that we will be able to contribute to the fantastic racing heritage of the Silver Arrows." Team boss Ross Brawn hailed the German as a driver who can win races and championships and said he had already achieved "results at the very limit of the technical capabilities of our current car."

"He has an excellent work ethic and, together with Michael, this gives us a driver pairing who consistently push the team to improve and progress," he added. "We look forward to providing Nico with a car which will enable him to compete right at the front of the field and achieve his deserved first win in Formula One." Before his long-term commitment to Mercedes, Rosberg had been one of the candidates tipped by the media as a possible replacement for Brazilian Felipe Massa at Ferrari after next season.

Japanese Grand Prix qualifying, you guessed it!!

Having qualified on pole position for tomorrow’s Japanese Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel now looks virtually certain to become Formula One’s youngest ever double world champion. Jenson Button was just a hundredth of a second behind, with Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa filling out the second row. Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber will be none too pleased with fifth and sixth, while Kamui Kobayashi gave the Suzuka crowds something to cheer about by sticking his Sauber on seventh. Michael Schumacher, Bruno Senna and Vitaly Petrov also made the top ten.

Couldn’t be more straightforward really, could it? Providing nobody tries anything rash at the first corner, we reckon they’ll be lasering Vettel’s name onto the trophy by lap ten. Still, while it’s looking cut and dried right at the front, further down the field there’s a few interesting battles to look out for. First up, Hamilton vs Massa – the man who enjoyed a little spat in front of the world’s media after their coming together last time out in Singapore.  Senna vs Petrov could also be a fascinating fight, especially considering that neither driver has yet to establish themselves as the team’s number one.

1. Sebastian Vettel
2. Jenson Button
3. Lewis Hamilton
4. Felipe Massa
5. Fernando Alonso
6. Mark Webber

Practice one, Schumacher heavy rain hit Assembly

Mercedes Michael Schumacher upstaged Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel in a super-wet opening practice session on Friday morning in Korea - and just got away with a very off-course moment coming into the pits at the end of the session.

For the first 40 minutes nothing much happened as the rain fell and everyone waited, but then McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton did a handful of laps and set the pace with 2m 03.391s before coming back into the pits. That time would stand up as seventh best overall. Then Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi did 2m 03.182s, which would stand up for fifth, before he too came in.

Towards the end there was a flurry of activity. Vettel had a near miss with a backmarker but still went fastest on 2m 02.852s before Schumacher did 2m 02.784s to go quickest, and Vettel’s reply just fell short at 2m 02.840s. Paul di Resta was another late improver, jumping ahead of Force India team mate Adrian Sutil who had been fastest briefly. The Scot managed 2m 02.912s for third to the German’s 2m 03.141s which was fourth best.

Karun Chandhok impressed with 2m 06.350s for 11th for Lotus, ahead of Williams’ serial offroader Pastor Maldonado on 2m 06.852s, while rookie Jean-Eric Vergne looked perfectly at home and impressed greatly with 2m 07.541s for 13th. In the second Toro Rosso’s wake, Rubens Barrichello did 2m 08.218s in the second Williams to head Narain Karthikeyan who aced Daniel Ricciardo in the HRT team, 2m 08.832s to 2m 09.232s. The Virgins made brief forays, Jerome D’Ambrosio lapping his in 2m 12.658s from Timo Glock on 2m 14.508s.

Much, however, depended on when you ran, so we will get a clearer picture of the pecking order thus far this afternoon. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso, Renault’s Bruno Senna and Vitaly Petrov, Lotus’s Heikki Kovalainen and McLaren’s Jenson Button did not venture out beyond installation laps.

Fernando Alonso as a Best F1 Driver

Alonso's father built him a kart when he was merely two years old other than it was not until he was 13 that he was able to do any serious racing. He won the Spanish cadet national kart title in 1994. Two years later he won the World Junior Karting title and he continued in karts until 1999 when he moved into car racing in the Nissan Open series in Spain, driving for former F1 driver Adrian Campos's team. He won the title at his first challenge and then moved into Formula 3000 with assistance from Telefonica.

He raced for Team Astromega and won the Spa race and finished fourth in the series. He was signed to an organization contract by Flavio Briatore and as a result was soon named as a Minardi test driver and in 2001 became the number one driver for the team, which had just been bought by Australia's Paul Stoddart. After an inspiring first season Alonso took the decision to become the Renault test driver in 2002, in the knowledge that he would graduate to the race team in 2003. He joined Renault as expected and with the impressive R23 was able to well and won his first victory in Hungary in August.

Furthermore Alonso was implicated in a spy scandal when it was discovered that Ferrari technical information had been leaked to McLaren. Four wins were not enough to get the championship for Alonso. He and Hamilton each ended up with 109 points, one shy of the 110 scored by champion Kimi Raikkonen.

The Youngest World Champion in History of F1

Fernando, like most of the other Formula 1 drivers, began racing go karts while still a child. In fact, his first race was at age 3. He won several national and local Spanish championships and in 1996 he won the world junior karting championship. He began racing cars at 18, winning his first championship, the Euro-Open Nissan series, where he won six races. He joined the Formula 3000 series in 2000, where he finished fourth, winning at Spa-Franco champs.

His Career:
With only two seasons of car racing behind him before he joined Formula 1 in 2001 at the age of 19, Fernando had shown very little reason to outsiders to merit the praise of his manager, Flavio Briatore, the man who had hired Michael Schumacher at Benetton in 1991 when he was an unknown. Early on, Briatore would compare Fernando to the German driver.
After a year learning the ropes at Minardi, Fernando joined Renault in 2002 for a sabbatical from racing as a test driver. During this year he developed his technical knowledge and his rapport with the team. The result was that in 2003 when he became a full-time driver at Renault, he was a fully-fledged and experienced F1 racer. At the Hungarian Grand Prix in August he won his first race, becoming the youngest ever Formula 1 race winner at 22 years and 27 days old.

Driving Style:
Fernando has a smooth driving style marked by the intelligence of both his technical approach and in dealing with traffic and other competitors. On the track he keeps his head under pressure, rarely cracking or making a mistake when it is vital to hold position.

Motor Racing: Alonso aims for third win at Singapore GP

SINGAPORE: Two-time World Champion and Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso is gunning for his third win at the Singapore Formula One race.

The Spaniard, who has the best record in Singapore, winning twice before in 2008 and 2010, said this year's race will be more exciting.

Fernando Alonso, together with Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa, made an appearance at Resorts World Sentosa on Thursday evening.

Alonso admits the world championship is likely to be won by Sebastian Vettel, and his team is focussing on reducing the Red Bull outfit's domination next year. But that is not stopping him from ensuring that his team will take the chequered flag at the Marina Bay Circuit in style this time.

Alonso said: "This year there is more overtaking, so I expect a very big show on Sunday, I hope everyone will enjoy the race because with the difference in the tyre performance, the difference in the DRS, with the KERS as well.

"We saw a lot of overtaking manoeuvres this year and so it will be no different here in Singapore so the race should be quite nice to watch."
